Boot sale in Periers France/collectable cards

Its never been known  for me to be an early riser so to have started to get out of bed early to go to boot sales is really quite strange. After dragging myself out of bed at stupid o`clock I found myself (still in the rain)in the town of Periers, France.Thought it was going to be a waste of time in the rain but slowly, after sitting in a bar drinking coffee, the rain stopped and people started to arrive.Gradually people started to unpack and we ventured outside to see what was on offer.Have to say not a lot unless you like old bits of furniture full of woodworm or pieces of china full of cracks and chips!Strange what some people try to sell.Anyway after almost giving up to drink more coffee(one of my favourite pastimes)I found these charming old French greeting cards.Looking more like postcards than how we would today recognise greeting cards I think they date from the 40`s/50`s.Infact today in France you can still buy such style of cards.Made in France they really are quite charming, ideal to add to a collection.

A lost blog in France

You would not believe how many hours we have spent trying to get back on our blog! Hours and hours of bad language and threatening to throw the laptop out of the window and it turns out it was our own fault.Somehow we had 2 accounts and too many passwords!? Don`t ask we don`t know how.Well today thanks to a lovely friend (thank you, thank you) it is now sorted and I can continue
with my ramblings.

Living in the beautiful Normandy country side in France is really a lovely place to live, but is it ever going to stop raining!Think we are going to need a boat soon am beginning to understand how Noah felt.Anyway in between the rain we have managed to get out to a couple of Bootsales,Flea markets whatever you like to call them and have found some wonderful goodies.

One of my best finds was this wonderful emerald green long sleeve dress. Its in perfect condition, dont think its a 1940`s dress but has some age to it.Was made in Paris and the best thing about it is the Eiffle Tower buttons. Can`t let my daughter see it as she is obsessed with anything Eiffel Tower (or the Eiffel Trifle as she calls it) she would want to cut them off!I will be selling it- go to www.ww2rationstore.com for more details.Hopefully going on a hunt again tomorrow, weather permitting. Will report how it goes when we dry out.

Just need to mention what arrived in the post today before I go. It seems my other half has found goodies of his own.An original wartime British marching compass in a belt pouch dated 1942.Again in really good condition he is going to sell it -go to www.ww2rationstore.com but in the meantime he can use it to find his way back from the local bar!

Computer idiots

Is it the operator or is it the computer? What trouble we`ve had to get back on to the ww2rationstore blog.I`ve almost forgotten what i wanted to blog about! Its like a whole new language but ever the optomist we will get there. The next thing is to link this blog to the website and then to ebay what a nightmare! meanwhile while the computer has been doing it`s own thing we`ve been busy rummaging around France and have found some really lovely pieces of 1940`s oiginal and repro clothing and ww2 militaria in really brilliant condition. When we`ve worked it out or when the computor decides to behave it will be up for sale on the new website www.ww2rationstore.com In the meantime found these 2 original 1940`s/50`s dressmaking patterns from Paris that have never been used.
