New Guests at our Bed and Breakfast/Gite `Les Perroquets` Normandy France
`Les Perroquets` Bed and Breakfast/Gite Normandy France
We are always getting new customers but recently we had some very fluffy ones.Friends went on holiday so the new guests came to stay at Les Perroquets.
Monsieur et Madame Bunny very happy waiting for their carrots a la calvados.Such a lovely couple, cuddly and fluffy in every way.But there was trouble brewing!
Baby bunny......doesn`t he look cute, but dont be fooled. After serving lunch to mummy and daddy I happily went in to feed him.We have one of our parrots in the same avery so I fed him first unaware of sid viscious as I now like to call him lining up for the kill.Suddenly I had a sharp pain in my ankle,a wasp I thought but no.Looking down I had a Rabbit attached to it, two front teeth sank into my ankle, surely he couldn`t be that hungry!I beat a hasty retreat and had to have a gin and tonic to calm my nerves. The next day being clever I sent my husband in only for the same thing to happen. My friends had said that he could be a bit touchy but this was most unexpected. Is it possible for rabbits to get councilling?
Even Basil the parrot found it traumatic.
Me the next day at feeding time.Much safer!!!

Periers France WW2 Monument
Look a patch of blue sky and the sun trying to come out! Perhaps we will stay a bit longer, have a wander and see what else we can find.Around the corner and there`s a staue,a monument...we need to investigate.
There was a lot of action in this area during WW2 so its not unusual to come across monuments etc,but I have never seen this one.It commemorates the liberation of Periers by the 90th American Infantry under General Landrum.Inaugurated in 2000 it represents four 90th Division soldiers killed in the area.
Virgil Tangborn-medic killed in Amfreville on 14th June,
Richard Richtman-infantry killed in Periers on 26th July,
Andrew Speese-infantry killed in Le Plessis-Lastelle on 6th July and Tullio Micalo armoured division.
Looking around the beautiful Normandy countryside now it really is hard to believe what happened here. Its good to see that the brave soldiers are not being forgotten.Really does bring a lump to my throat.Time to go home.

A lost blog in France
with my ramblings.
Living in the beautiful Normandy country side in France is really a lovely place to live, but is it ever going to stop raining!Think we are going to need a boat soon am beginning to understand how Noah felt.Anyway in between the rain we have managed to get out to a couple of Bootsales,Flea markets whatever you like to call them and have found some wonderful goodies.
Just need to mention what arrived in the post today before I go. It seems my other half has found goodies of his own.An original wartime British marching compass in a belt pouch dated 1942.Again in really good condition he is going to sell it -go to www.ww2rationstore.com but in the meantime he can use it to find his way back from the local bar!
